Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone (we might still be stuffed from Thanksgiving Dinner…), we can finally talk about some of our favorite holiday traditions throughout the city of Indianapolis! There are so many festive things to do and see around our great city during the month of December, but these 10 events and sights are definitely our favorites for 2017.
1. Christmas At The Zoo
Everyone in the family will enjoy this winter extravaganza. There is a brand new “Santa’s Village” this year where you can decorate cookies with Mrs. Claus, visit with Santa, and see Santa’s Reindeer in his barn! Our zoo is one of the top 10 in the nation, and this light display does not disappoint!
Where: The Indy Zoo
Dates: 11/24 – 12/30
2. A Christmas Carol
In it’s 25th year at IRT, this is truly one of Indy’s favorite holiday traditions. Watching Scrooge visit the past, the present, and the future brings us hope in the dark of winter – when we need it most! Performances are 90 minutes with no intermission… tickets sell out fast (especially for weekend shows) so get yours quickly!

Where: Clowes Memorial Hall
Date: 12/10 (1 pm and 4 pm Showtimes)
5. A Christmas Story: The Musical
This new musical is based on the classic 1983 movie, which depicts Ralphie Parker’s quest to ensure that his most desired Christmas gift ends up under his tree. Nominated for 3 Tony Awards, this event has proven itself to be the perfect addition to your holiday calendar!
Where: Old National Centre
